Cybersmart - Google Earth
Today for Cybersmart we had to choose 5 different places on Google Earth, that we would want to go, and then pick one that you like the most and post it on your blog. I would LOVE to come here so that i experience what I can do with my family when I'm older, and it would be amazing to come here with my siblings and parents this year.

Happy Birthday Dad ! (Poem)
Happy Birthday Dad, Poem
When I was born
I didn't know much
I was introduced to this world
By your kind words and soft touch
Years passed so quickly
And we were already alike
You were my guide and instructor
When learning to ride a bike
Off to kindergarten
And a tear in your eye
You've always been sensitive
When it comes to goodbyes
It's because of the love
That you hold in your heart
You want me to experience life
But don't like to be apart
So off I went
Adventuring alone
Learning new things
Experiencing life on my own
Hasn't always been easy
That, I am aware
But one thing's for sure
You are always there
You've helped me see
The woman I can become
You've always had faith in me
Even when I had none
It's that unconditional love
That helped me get through
I wish all little girls' daddies
Could be as great as you
If all girls had guidance
And a dad's shoulder to cry
They'd grow up with confidence
And a willingness to try
So I guess what I'm saying
Is thank you, Dad
I'm not sure words can express
The impact you've had
You are my hero
And an inspiration to all
Happy Birthday, Dad

Paragraph Writing - Cultural Appreciation
My family and I celebrate Tongan and Samoan culture for respect and the importance of keeping our culture, language, and traditions. It helps us remember who we are and where our families come from. The pattern of my culture is to bring us together. My cultural traditions are shared through storytelling, music, song, dance, symbol, language, religion, belief, and the way we do things. Tonga is represented by its flag and got its flag after becoming christian. The cross on the flag of Tonga represents that Tonga is a Christian nation. The white part of the flag of Tonga represents purity. The red part of the flag, the main part symbolizes the blood of Jesus. The Samoan flag is represented by, white is said to stand for purity, blue for freedom, and red for courage. No change was made in the national flag when the country became independent on January 1, 1962. Teuila Festival is Samoa's main event. Samoa’s cultural festivals are found during September's Teuila Festival, including cuisine displays, traditional dance performances, canoe racing and more. The event usually lasts for several days, and is mostly held in the capital city of Samoa, Apia. In Tonga my family celebrates long history and heritage, and its position as an island nation, through festivals throughout the year. Some are located in the Vava'u festival and regatta, while others are celebrated nationally, in the annual Heilala festival. Samoan and Tongan dances are called Siva, Sasa and Tau'olunga, Mako. Most Samoan and Tongan dishes include coconuts, fruits such as mango, pineapple or star fruit, root vegetables, chicken or fish. But the most Tongan and Samoan popular dishes are panipopu, palusami, and Keke site (aka, Lu Sipi). Both dishes include coconut milk and taro leaves. In Samoa they represent their school by girls wearing a tupenu with a white polo t- shirt and white polo t-shirt and a tupenu as well. In Tonga they represent their school by girls wearing a white polo t-shirt and a dress on top and boys wearing a white polo t-shirt and a tupenu. Samoa and Tonga are also 887 km apart or far away from each other. I hope you've learnt alot about Samoan & Tongan Traditions. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO LEAVE A POSITIVE COMMENT !!! |
